"Better World by Design is a student-led initiative at Brown University and Rhode Island School of Design that celebrates interdisciplinary collaboration between designers, educators, innovators, and learners. We envision a world where design-thinking is accessible to everyone in order to catalyze positive change on a local and global scale."

2018 - Tensions

"We have chosen the theme of Tensions as an opportunity to reflect upon recent social, political, environmental, and technological challenges and their implications for design practices. Together, we will consider innovative possibilities for creating personal, local, and global impact, with a focus on counteracting inequality and amplifying historically underrepresented voices."

2017 - Blocks, Bytes and Bars

"On the occasion of Better World’s 10th anniversary in 2017, we decided to organize a different kind of conference in aims of breaking the conversational mold. The 2017 theme, Blocks, Bytes, and Bars, used symbols to provide an alternative method of conceiving the design process. These three objects represent design’s traditional past, technological present, and aspirational future."
