Meeting Arduino & Burning My Finger!

On Wednesday we got to play around with our Arduino packets and start learning to code some simple tasks of blinking and using sensors for temperature and distance. I was happy to be among others who had little to no experience working with such and it took some time, and it's still a learning process, to conceptually understand how the circuit and breadboard work. But little successes were celebrated throughout the class.

But during one exercise with the temperature sensor, Jeremy picked up on a smell, one none of us could detect. He touched his sensor and it was burning up. He immediately unplugged it and we tried to troubleshoot what was going wrong as my sensor too was getting hot. It wasn't until after I made the same mistake and touched my sensor that we saw that it was reading temperatures quickly jumping over 600 degrees Fahrenheit. I don't know if that's possible, but we both had burnt fingertips. Other than that little setback it was uber fun to play with these toys and I can't wait to learn more.
